PAST EVENTS
Social Events
The Canadian Lithuanian Society of Edmonton hosts a number of large and small social events of interest to its members.
Annual gala events include: Lithuanian Independence Day, International Cepelinai Day, and Octoberfest. The Gala's include dinner, bar service, entertainment programs of song and dance, guest speakers, and other activities that are tailored around the Gala's theme.
Other large and smaller social events are developed each year based upon celebrations and other activities of the Society, community and international events and festivities.
Just a few of the events held during this past year included: New Years Eve Potluck Dinner and Dance, Eurovision Song Contest, International Children's Day / Father's Day, Children's Christmas Party, FIBA Basketball World Cup Finals.
Music
The Edmonton Lithuanian Society has established a choir that not only provides entertainment during Lithuanian Society Events, but also participates in other Edmonton, national and internation song festivals and other events.
In the past the Choir has travelled to Lithuania to participate in the Millenium Song and Dance Festival. This year the Choir is preparing for the Tenth North American Lithuanian Song Festival in Chicago.
LEARNING
The Edmonton Lithuanian Society provides leaning programs for old and young alike. We currently offer English lessons and a school / play program for children. We have offered Lithuanian lessons in the past depending upon demand.
Sports and Other Activities
The Edmonton Lithuanian Society has provided various activities ranging from picnics and camping to basketball to movie nights.
